Welcome to the USS Athena!

“You’ll lack neither courage nor sense from this day on.” - Athena (in Homer’s The Odyssey)

In ancient Greek mythology Athena was the Olympian goddess of wisdom and good counsel, war, the defence of towns, heroic endeavour, weaving, pottery and various other crafts.

All of those things are to be expected in the stories we want to tell. (Including even the part about weaving and pottery, if you’re so inclined!)

The USS Athena is a proud member of Taskforce 72 in Obsidian Fleet

The USS Athena is assigned to escort a high-level Federation Ambassador to complete the accession of a new member world - Paratus IV. Although deemed overkill to deploy the ship for this assignment, it seems the Ambassador herself has a number of particularly outrageous demands during the journey.

But what unknown dangers will await the crew once they arrive at their destination?

Hi all

It's that time of the year when gifts are given, and we've gotten two new gifts ourselves here on the Athena!

Please join me in welcoming Lt Commander Peter Horn, head of Strategic Operations, and Lieutenant Noah Reed (MD) our new Chief Medical Officer.

This puts us in really good shape going forward, and as mentioned on the Discord channel I'll be looking to wrap our existing mission and kicking us off something new at the turn of the year.

Merry Christmas!

Noah sat back in his chair aboard the shuttle as it exited the docking bay of Starbase Poseidon and angled toward the U.S.S. Athena. He smiled faintly, proud of the new ship upon which he'd get to run his own sickbay. There weren't too many Prometheus-class starships floating around and…

Of course Harrington had been unhappy with the orders. But the orders were from higher up than he was. As much as both he and Kane would protest, the Federation Diplomatic Service had a lot of influence at Starfleet Command. So, Kane surmised, they were on babysitting duty for…

Mission: In the Family
Posted on Wed Jan 15th, 2020 @ 11:14am by Lieutenant Commander Taeler Santu M.D. & Lieutenant Mortigar

It had been quite an exciting first couple of hours aboard the Athena, Santu had hoped for something a bit more slow-paced, but it seemed that this wasn't meant to be for her first job as an XO. She was glad they made it through unscathed, though. Now that everyone…

Leah sipped the mug of steaming hot chocolate gently, using the heat to comfortably warm her hands as she gazed out of the wide open viewing ports into space. She liked being out on board a starship again; there were only so many stationary assignments she could stand before it…

Kane gazed at the distant starfield on the main viewer, his stint on the bridge coming to a close. His mind had been wandering, glad that all of the recent additions to the crew had been settling in well, his senior staff slowly forming into something of a unit at…
